Journey to regeneration
Our school has adopted a holistic approach to environmental initiatives, working with the Belltrees community to rehabilitate barren school paddocks in to a thriving agricultural plot.
Through practices such as rotational grazing, ground cover management and multi-species cropping, we have revived the soil's nutrient density, addressed water management and seen an increase in local wildlife.

Sustainable Schools NSW Teacher of The Year Award
In 2024, Principal Shane Roberts was awarded the Sustainable Schools NSW Teacher of the Year Award for his ongoing commitment to improving the school environment, addressing issues around flood protection and water capture through landscape management. Through the Ponds System Project, water is being diverted to the school's pond where planted grasses have welcomed the return of frogs, birds and bug life.
NSW Ministers Young Climate Champions 2023
Presented by the Banksia Foundation, the Ministers Young Climate Champion Award is a prestigious national sustainability award recognising individuals and organisations for their environmental and social stewardship.
Belltrees Public School were proud winners of the award in 2023, recognised for our ongoing commitment to achieving net zero emissions.
Eco-schools Green Flag Award Winner 2023
Belltrees Public School was the proud recipient a the Keep Australia Beautiful Eco-schools Green Flag Award in 2023. Eco-schools is the largest global sustainable schools program and its Green Flag Award acknowledges, rewards and celebrates the ecological achievements of young people. At the time, Belltrees Public School were one of only five Australian schools to achieve this honour.
NSW Tidy Towns Winner 2023
In 2023, Belltrees Public School were awarded the Young Legends Group Award NSW, recognised for their regenerative agriculture initiatives led by the Youth Environmental Council.
As leader of the school's Youth Environment Council, Renzy Perez was awarded the Young Legends Individual Award.
